What sailing is like here
The Adriatic falls into three areas: Istria and Kvarner in the north, Dalmatia in the middle, the waters around Dubrovnik in the south. Summers are ruled by the maestral, an afternoon sea breeze that blows steadily and predictably. Short distances between anchorages make Croatia the safest choice for a first cruise.
Season
The season runs from May to October. July and August are the warmest and busiest; June and September offer the same sea with fewer boats in the bays.

Where do most cruises in Croatia set off from?
From the central Dalmatian marinas around Split and Trogir. From there it is half a day’s sailing to the Kornati or to Hvar.
Do I need a skipper’s licence to sail in Croatia?
For a bareboat charter, yes. Croatia recognises several certificates, Slovak ones included; we confirm that your particular licence is valid when we prepare the offer.
How far can I get in a week?
A comfortable loop is around a hundred and thirty to a hundred and fifty nautical miles. That is enough for four or five islands without spending the whole day at the helm.
