What sailing is like here
The Tyrrhenian Sea is more open than the Adriatic and the weather turns faster. Around the Bay of Naples the distances are short; between the Aeolian Islands you have to reckon with full-day passages. There are fewer anchorages along the coast than in Croatia, so a berth in a marina is booked ahead.
Season
From May to October. August is the priciest and busiest month, because that is when the whole of Italy is on holiday.

Questions about sailing in Italy
Where should a cruise in Italy begin?
Naples and Salerno are closest to Amalfi, Capri and Procida. For the Aeolian Islands you set off from Tropea or from Portorosa in Sicily.
Are Italian marinas more expensive?
Yes; harbour fees in high season are among the highest in the Mediterranean. Anchoring in a bay is free, but around Amalfi it is restricted.
Can you sail to Capri?
Yes. A berth in Capri marina is taken well in advance in summer, though, so most boats anchor in the bay and go ashore by tender.
