What sailing is like here
The trade winds blow steadily from the east, fifteen to twenty knots for most of the year. In the British Virgin Islands the passages are short and the islands always in sight, which makes them the easiest Caribbean area. The Grenadines are more open and call for more experience.
Season
From December to May. From June to November is the hurricane season, and most boats are not chartered.
Worth the voyage
- The British Virgin Islands
- Anchorages within sight of one another and sheltered waters. The most common choice for a first Caribbean cruise.
- The Grenadines
- A chain of small islands between Saint Vincent and Grenada. The Tobago Cays are a marine park with coral.
- The Windward Islands
- Volcanic islands with tropical interiors. The passages between them are open and windy.

When do you sail in the Caribbean?
From December to May. The summer months belong to the hurricane season, and chartering then is usually not possible.
Why a catamaran?
Its shallow draft lets you anchor in the shallows, and the stability is more comfortable in the trade winds. That is why a catamaran is more common in the Caribbean than a monohull.
What about getting there?
A flight from Slovakia has one or two connections and takes a full day. We do not include travel in the charter price, but we help with the planning.
