What sailing is like here
The area is small and the passages short: from Valletta to Gozo is a few hours. The coast is rocky and there is little shelter, so you sail by the forecast. For more miles, people combine Malta with Sicily; that passage is around sixty nautical miles.
Season
From April to November. Malta has the longest season in the Mediterranean, and the sea is warm even in October.

- A shallow between two islands with almost transparent water. Crowded by day, empty after sunset.
- Grand Harbour
- One of the deepest natural harbours in Europe, ringed by sixteenth-century fortifications.
- Gozo
- A slower, greener island with high cliffs and anchorages on the north side.

Is Malta enough for a whole week?
The islands themselves can be covered in three or four days. For a week the south of Sicily is usually added.
What is the wind like in Malta?
Mostly north-westerly. The coast is exposed, so the choice of anchorage follows wherever the wind is coming from.
Is English spoken in Malta?
Yes; English is an official language. Communication in the marinas and with the authorities is no trouble.
