Catana is a French yard that builds sailing catamarans geared towards speed and long ocean passages.
About the brand
The brand was created in 1984 in Cogolin in the south of France, and in the late 1990s the main plant moved to Canet-en-Roussillon near Perpignan. Today it is part of the Catana Group, which under other brands builds the production Bali catamarans and the YOT power catamarans. Catana boats are built on slim hulls, retractable daggerboards and vacuum-infused laminate with carbon reinforcement, which makes them lighter than production catamarans of the same length.
In charter
Catana appears in charter fleets less often than production catamarans built directly for hire. The better windward performance and higher average speeds are paid for with less living volume, and handling the daggerboards also assumes a more experienced crew.
