Galeon is a Polish yard that builds cabin motor yachts in the roughly 10 to 26 metre range.
About the brand
The company was founded in 1982 near Gdańsk. Since the 1990s it has focused on motor yachts and builds at two plants, Straszyn and Wiślina, with more than 1,500 employees. The British studio of Tony Castro contributes to some of the models. The brand remains in private hands and belongs to no larger group. Its signature features are fold-out side terraces and a reconfigurable cockpit that widen the deck when lying at anchor in a bay.
In charter
In charter Galeon appears in the mid and upper class of motor yachts, most often the Fly models around fifteen metres. They are let almost always with a skipper, since their size and power exceed the scope of an ordinary boating licence, and fuel consumption is significant for a motor yacht of this class. The hydraulic terraces and fold-out sides are moving mechanisms that suffer under heavy charter use, so some fleets restrict them or charge for them separately.
