Princess is a British yard in Plymouth that builds motor yachts in the roughly 12 to 29 metre range.
About the brand
The company was founded in 1965 as Marine Projects and still builds in Plymouth today, across five sites. It builds motor boats only and sorts them into classes by superstructure type: V are sporty hard-top models, F and S the flybridge and lower sportbridge, Y and X the largest two-deck yachts. The hulls are designed by the British firm Bernard Olesinski, which has worked with the yard since 1980. Since 2023 the majority stake has been held by the American fund KPS Capital Partners; before that it belonged to the L Catterton group.
In charter
In charter Princess sits in the upper segment and is usually let crewed or at least skippered, not bareboat. That comes at a price: the weekly rate is markedly higher than for an ordinary charter motor boat, and on top of it you have to count fuel, which makes up a large share of the cost at higher speeds.
