Sunseeker is a British motor-yacht builder based in Poole on the south coast of England.
About the brand
The company was founded in 1969 by the brothers Robert and John Braithwaite as Poole Power Boats, and has carried the name Sunseeker International since 1985. It builds fast motor yachts with planing and semi-planing hulls, currently ranging from roughly 17 to 41 metres. The ownership has shifted in recent years. The Chinese group Dalian Wanda, which controlled the company from 2013, sold it in November 2024 to the funds Lionheart Capital and Orienta Capital Partners. A sale to a consortium around KCP Holdings announced in March 2026 fell through, and in July 2026 the company was taken over by its existing creditors, Cheyne Capital and Cross Ocean Partners.
In charter
In charter Sunseeker appears almost exclusively skippered or crewed, not in bareboat fleets. Running one is expensive: the powerful engines burn hundreds of litres of diesel an hour at cruising speed, and larger models pay in the marina by both length and beam.
